Shades of Landis: Vino Rocks!
In a scene reminsicent of Floyd Landis last year when he bonked, then experienced the “Greatest One Day Ride in the History of the Tour de France“, Alexander Vinokourov of Astana clinched his second victory of this year’s Tour de France with panache when he won the 196-km 15th stage from Foix on Monday.

This, after Vino bonked yesterday and finishing more than 30 minutes behind the leaders. The Astana rider, who lost all hope of winning the race when he cracked and crashed on Sunday’s 14th stage, went solo 15 km from the summit of the Col de Peyresourde to beat Luxembourg’s Kim Kirchen of the T-Mobile team.

Wow, what a timely reference to Landis! Vino is a doper too, just like most are rumored to be still. It’s still a great sport. Lance managed to get through 7 straight without crashing too seriously and didn’t get caught red handed doping. That’s why he’s still considered a champion.
I’ll keep watching, drugs and all, because I love the strategy that has to be used still.
