I am continually amazed at the shrinking cost of computing……..Today, our Park Community Church tech guys sent us a link for a $299 HP Business Computer.

I initially scoffed, thinking this must be a low-end retail computer but no, these are real business HPs. It is amazing to think of the downward compression on the price of computing power. In 1998, when I was the VP-CFO of American Disposal Services, Inc, I paid $3,700 for a desktop PC….now look at our increased productivity and reduced cash computing costs! Look at the description:
Great Features and Great Price!
The HP Compaq dx2200 Business Desktop PC doesn’t trade away features and technology for a lower price. Instead, HP has packed this microtower powerhouse with a full menu of benefits which exceed the expectations placed on PCs in this price range. Start with an Intel Pentium 4 524 3.06GHz CPU with Hyperthreading, 512MB of DDR2 RAM, a huge 160GB SATA II HDD with 8MB cache(runs at 150MB/s due to motherboard), a DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive, and integrated 10/100Mbps LAN. Integrated graphics from ATI deliver more than enough video performance for routine office applications. The Microsoft Windows XP Pro operating system on this powerhouse PC will drive you to new levels of productivity. An available PCI Express x16 expansion slot accommodates graphic card upgrades for more intensive video requirements. Compact microtower design fits easily into your work space and helps accommodate future upgrades and expansion needs. Front access USB 2.0 I/O ports for fast and convenient data transfers. Audio ports conveniently located at the front and back for greater flexibility.
